“One cries because one is sad. I cry because others are stupid and that makes me sad”.
Sheldon Cooper
I am not trying to call all of you stupid (maybe), but hey! This is my favorite line from the infamous Sheldon Cooper, who repeatedly ensured everyone that he wasn’t crazy because his mother got him tested.
One of the most popular sitcoms in America that managed to make science interesting for me (That’s a pretty huge deal, you know?)
Well, here’s the thing. There’s literally no use of me spewing facts like when it aired and what was the premise and so on and so forth.
But, I am here to tell you what no one else would… It is time to get inspirations and advice and design ideas for your startup, whatnot to learn from only and only The Big Bang Theory!!
Inspiration from The Big Bang Theory
Big bang theory is a out of box sitcom by one only Chuck Lorre. It's about 6 people struggling to sustain & understand universe as they grow old they learn a new life lesson.
So here's a fun fact - we have broken down real life lessons which will help you as a startup or business owner to learn from your all time favorite characters.
You don’t want me to start with another gyaan, do you?
So, let’s get right to it.
1) Penny Gets a Haircut
Well, there is no surprise element to the fact that Sheldon was petrified of change. But then, most of us are, aren’t we?
Anyway, throughout the whole show, it was Penny who embraced the change with open arms and adapted herself to it in no time. And even when Penny got a haircut, she killed it and made us all realize that we must embrace change and accept it with open arms since it can open so many more avenues for us.
So, take the leap and don’t be afraid of the change. You will be fine!
2) Is Penny a Freeloader?
The number of times Sheldon changed their Wi-Fi password and then Penny would come asking for the password. And of course, Sheldon was never subtle about the fact how he hated Penny being a freeloader when it comes to food and Wi-Fi.
But, here’s your important lesson - Excess of everything is bad, especially freeloading off of people.
So, when you just start off a business, it is quite alright to hire unpaid interns. But you can’t have people working for you for free for several months at a stretch. This would affect your work quality, to say the least.
As soon as you and your business start generating revenues, pay your interns because they do put their blood and sweat into the work.
3) Raj Never Gave Up On Finding His Life Partner
Even though the series closed on a high note, we always end up feeling a tad bit bad for Raj as he never found the perfect girl for himself despite his efforts throughout the series. (Yes, we are ignoring the fact that he was weird in his own way!)
But, Raj teaches you a very important lesson here - Never give up! You need to keep going on and ultimately, you will find what is best for you. All that you need to do is - Believe in yourself!
4) Penny Tried to Learn Physics from Sheldon
Penny was that one character who people like us could relate to! I mean when Sheldon and Leonard would go all science-y, Penny and us would have the same reaction “Hain?”
But, to impress Leonard, she tried to learn Physics and that was applaudable, to say the least!
What you can learn from this scene is that even if it’s not your niche or your department, you must never be afraid to take a leap and try out new areas in graphic designing or media. Just never be afraid to learn something new. Ever!
5) Sheldon Loses the Physics Bowl
Oh God! That was hard to watch, wasn’t it?
But, you see here is the thing - Despite facing so many failures throughout the series, Sheldon never gave up. He just made us realize that failure is just a step towards success.
Consider Sheldon and Amy’s multidimensional string theory (Please don’t belittle me for getting the name wrong, can never get it right!), in spite of the fact that it failed once and took a step back for a while. They bounced back stronger and ended up with a Nobel Prize.
Oh also, do you remember the time when someone in China discovered an element based on Sheldon’s research. But, later, we found out that Sheldon had made a calculation mistake and the element discovery was just a full-blown coincidence.
So, my dear friends… Don’t hesitate in making mistakes and never be afraid to admit them! Just do it and everything else would fall in place.
6) Sheldon’s Drunk Speech
Who can ever forget the whole drunk speech fiasco by Sheldon? It was so fun for everyone to see Sheldon in his carefree element.
And that’s my whole point here, dear readers. Just take a break and find a new angle. This helps all the creative people to get out of their creativity block.
Disclaimer: We are not endorsing alcohol consumption and other intoxications such as weed/marijuana/other drugs (I don’t know!)
The point being find your unique way of taking a break and getting out of your creativity block.
7) Sheldon and Amy’s Breakthrough At Their Wedding
Well, I get my creativity breakthroughs right before sleeping. And just like me, Sheldon and Amy got an amazing breakthrough at their wedding.
If it wasn’t for Penny, who knows for how long these guys would’ve been discussing asymmetry.
But, this is what this beautiful moment teaches you - Don’t let that thought get away no matter even if it's your wedding day. Follow your unique creativity path and seize the moment.
8) Sheldon and Penny Made a Shoe App
Penny was desperate for money and Sheldon, being a good friend, helped her. And Sheldon being the smart one, he told Penny to sort her shoes based on the sizes, brands, colors, and so on.
And it is important for you to go for that kind of approach for your brand or application. You literally need to go through each senior & break it it down in very very very minute details as much as possible. The more you understand each & every aspect of your own business the better you know how to make others belive in it.
9) Raj and Penny’s Argument Over Comet’s Discovery
Well, the whole fiasco who discovered what was one of the most interesting episodes on The Big Bang Theory.
Nope, I am not going to take sides and start a whole debate, but what I can tell you is that you must not take ownership of others’ work, no matter what.
But, at the same time, give everyone a chance and hear everyone’s ideas. Sometimes, interns of one department can give a brilliant idea for another department.
For instance, my friend Priya (not Raj's sister) - she entered one of my client’s companies as a Content Writing Intern, but then she had such great ideas for the product that currently she is a Product Manager there.
10) Sheldon Not Taking a Holiday
Well, it was quite funny (and relatable) when Sheldon’s boss had to tell him repeatedly to take a break. They literally had to force him to take his paid leaves.
So, my dear readers, please take a break or you will find yourself exhausted a lot more than often!
You should not be like Sheldon or like Priyanka, the owner of PixsMagic. She was blocked by her boss for working 24/7 and he had to force her to take a break for a few days. But, then… she found a loophole and created a new id to bug her boss.
I repeat. Don’t be like Sheldon or Priyanka!
